Captain & Crew

Capt. Dennis Cintas is a third generation fisherman and has been fishing professionally since he turned 13 years old. Hailing from San Diego, California Dennis grew up in a world famous tuna fishing family fishing every summer with his father throughout Mexico and Central America. Dennis received his USCG captain license when he turned 18 years old and immediately got his first opportunity as skipper of a 34' Hatteras known as "Zopilote". His long career on privately owned yachts and commercial tuna boats has provided him geographical awareness of nearly every exotic fishing venue around the globe! Dennis has fished the pelagic fisheries surrounding Southern California, Baja California, Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela and the west coast of Africa. This world-wide fishing experience has enabled him to develop his instincts and skills to maintain a very high fish production for his clients and a reputation among his peers as one of the most successful skippers in the areas in which he has operated.

He has 20 years of on the water knowledge fishing the Kona Coast, it's fishing styles and fishing areas.

Capt. Cintas has a genuine passion for sportfishing and is extremely patient and personable with all of his charter clientele and believes that enjoying the offshore fishing experience is paramount!

If you've ever thought about trying offshore marlin fishing then you've found the right skipper. Dennis and his skilled crew will make you feel comfortable when teaching you the techniques of landing your trophy fish.

Our repeat customers come to Kona every year to fish with us, a testament to the customer-friendly attitude of the Krista's crew.

Your captain and crew are very well versed in the various types of fishing techniques used in offshore blue water fishing such as light tackle, salt water flyfishing and heavy tackle conventional style big game fishing.

As Dennis states, "It's all about the hunt"! Various hunting tactics are employed during the day and typically scanning the waters with high powered binoculars searching for birds, floating debris, dolphins and bait fish are evident when fishing with Dennis. The state-of-the-art marine electronics aboard the Krista also allow us to locate fish and bait and fish the underwater structures proven to hold our targeted game fish. We always attempt to have fresh bait onboard in the form of live tuna, mackeral or fresh ballyhoo and other cut bait.

Our largest marlin to date is 909 lbs. and many over that mark have been hooked up only to be lost late in the battle. While you are welcome to keep your billfish, we encourage TAG & RELEASE fishing to help keep our billfish stocks healthy. Dennis has been noted as placing in the top 10 captains in the Pacific for tagging and releasing billfish since 1993. His efforts have greatly aided the conservation and management of the billfish resources in the Pacific Ocean.

Admiring the beauty and majesty of these incredible species of billfish up close and prior to their release is one of the most gratifying experience you'll ever have!
